Bonnie Bishop (aka: Benita Morgan)  grew up in the San Gabriel Valley and spent much of her childhood dreaming about exploring the wilderness. Her family went camping occasionally, but not often enough for her satisfaction. She joined the Girl Scouts and in Junior High she joined the schools Hiking Club. They went on several day hikes and her first backpacking trip was with this club to Mt Baldy's Ice House Canyon to Kellys Camp.

She brought canned foods despite the recommendations of the Teacher leading them . She went on to learn about the Sierra Clubs Ten Essentials and basics of backpacking and became a key member of her High Schools Backpacking Club.

In College she joined the Backpacking Club which was considered a Physical Education class. Her Geology professor seeing her in class in her designer dresses high heels, and disco hair styles, did not think she could handle a two week Backpack in the Sierras. She had to beg him to let her go. She proved her worth that summer in the Sierra Wilderness.

Through the years she hiked and backpacked when she could. She Tried several careers from Hairstylist to Pet Store Manager.

Bonnie has been Backpacking across Catalina Island twice, To the Grand Canyons Havasupai Canyon twice, and in the Sierras numerous times. Her favorite backpacking destination today is Chantry Flats in Big Santa Anita Canyon, Southern California.

Benita has published stories about her wilderness adventures.
