Santa Rosa Island is located about 26 miles off the coast of Santa Barbara, California. It's one of the Larger of the Channel Islands. I booked my campsite months ahead of time and Spent a beautiful spring weekend in paradise. The backpack to the campground is only about a mile.....once the base camp is set up in one of the wind shelters, you can hike the many miles around the island canyons and beaches.
I was excited to see an Island Fox, along with many other wildlife creatures. Friday afternoon I saw a Bald Eagle swirling above camp. On Saturdays hike I shared the beach with a Sea Lion. I may have hiked a total of 7 miles Saturday while exploring coves and canyons. I have posted all the pictures on my Facebook. The nights were windy, thus the need for the shelters....
